Hey guys, besides the overall burn out fall is coming quick. And in fall comes Japanese proficiency tests. Between GoE and I, we plan on taking several different ones, so time previously spent on Birdy needs to now be spent on study. You may not know this, but in Japan, tests mean everything when it comes to getting a job. You could be completly bilingual, have lived in Japan for 40 years, but if you haven't passed the test, your resume will just be thrown away.
But even so, poor GoE isn't a girl who can quit in the middle of something, so we have to get to a stopping place or she'll go insane. The next good place to stop is the end of "The Child of Quarter" story arc. Thus, Volume 4 Chapter 7 will be our final release.
Now do I mean "FINAL" final? Maybe. We don't know yet. Tests will go all the way till the end of this year. But in January 2010 we will no longer be studying. So check back then and you may just find a stream of new chapters. I'll be sure to give some more updates on our thoughts as we work up to our final chapter.
Will Birdy rub against more lamp posts? Will we ever see Capella? Will Botulous spooge on more people? Find out in this exciting issue of: Birdy the Mighty!

I always seem to only post when there's bad news...
Radical Dreamer was a bit optimistic...truth be told I'm already completely burned out.
This week will be late, but it's mostly done...My principal came to me today and announced that not only was I expected to play translator for some principals coming to our school from Iran tomorrow...he also had some worksheets he wanted me to translate...so...yeah...Birdy got pushed aside...
I'm trying to get it done...but it'll prolly be a day late

Hey everyone. Long story short, doing Birdy a chapter a week has become too much for us. We are frankly burnt out. Especially GoE. Originally it looked to be a half and half kinda thing, with us both translating and combining those together at the end of each week. However, due to the time editing and scanlating takes, I spent less and less time translating till I spent almost no time at all; leaving it all on her. Something that is supposed to be fun has become a chore for both of us. So we are left with 2 choices, give up on Birdy and wash our hands of it, or make a major change. For now, we're going to try for the second option. Thus for the forseeable future, Birdy will be released once every two weeks, with the next chapter coming out on next Thursday. I hope this will make it more manageable for us, yet not leave you all out in the cold.

Every once in a while, the manga throws a curve ball that even us translators miss. In this chapter we learn that Birdy and Tsutomu (and by extension Megius and the other police) think that Revi is a man. Readers of course know by this point that Revi is female. However, as translators, we made the mistake of thinking that everyone knew Revi was a woman and thus we have had everyone refer to her as “she” in past chapters. From now on this will be fixed and the good guys will call her “he” while the bad guys call her “she.”
For those of you interested in how we made this mistake, I'll tell you. In Japanese, the pronouns “he” and “she” are almost never used. Instead the person's name will be used once, and from then on, the subject won't even be mentioned again. Thus there is no need to say he or she. And us translators just cry.
